Hello, FLUM Choir Crew! Are you enjoying your break? You have one more Wednesday free of choir. But remember, Miss Erin is there as always with fun stuff at 6:30! Don't miss out on her great scripture insights, cool activities, and baby updates!
Wednesday November 9 at 5:30 we will begin relearning "Break the Bank" and "Zat You." Don't worry if you can't find your CD. It will come back to you when the music starts. After five times through, you will have it down just as well as you did last year at Christmas. We practice November 9, 18, skip the 25th for Thanksgiving, and have our last practice November 30.
The performance is part of the Adult Choir's "Share the Warmth" yearly concert to benefit those in our community who need help with preparing for winter. We take for granted that we can run to the thermostat and kick it up a notch when inside goes below 68 degrees. Many people have to decide whether they will buy medicine they need, buy food, or stay warm. What would Jesus do? Help pay their heating bill, give them blankets and coats, and buy their groceries, that's what. There are always people who fall through the cracks of the welfare system or get in a pinch because of one mistake. We have cushions of money and family to help us. Some don't.
So not only will we be having fun, we will be a part of something bigger and better than ourselves!
See you all November 9!

Blessings Galore!
Wow! The kids did SUCH an amazing job on The Amazing Grace Race! They did so well, in fact, that we all know God was with them. Karla and I were most impressed with their spirit even the night of the dress rehearsal, which is usually contentious. This year, it was wonderful and we STILL did well the night of the show.
The pre-show pics are pretty cute, though I wasn't able to get everyone. We had a pizza emergency and so I only got the kids that arrived first. I must apologize for the show pics. First of all, I am a terrible photographer. Second, there wasn't much light, but the flash was too much. Thirdly, I was trying to cue them and take photos. Not a good combo. I don't know how to set the F stop and aperture on my camera even thought I've read the manual. Auto is not working well either. But you can sort of see them.
We will take 2 weeks off and return to Wed. 5:30 practice of "Zat You" and Break the Bank" on Nov. 9, 16, and 30. Share the Warmth is 5:30 PM Dec. 4.
Enjoy your break, but don't forget Miss Erin at 6:30 on Wednesdays!

One More Week!
Hooray! The week of performance is HERE! Below, find the schedule for intense rehearsals. Our first day on the stage is this Sunday because the Connections Band has to have time to get their stuff off the stage after Sunday Worship. If you see them, please thank them for taking most of their stuff off and allowing us to use the stage. It is a real pain for them to schedule a take-down and put-up. Also, thank Max Shores in advance for doing our sound at dress rehearsal and performance. As an Emmy award-winning professional, he normally would be paid hundreds to do what he's doing for us free of charge. Thank him as well.
Wednesday Oct 12 5:30- 6:20 Regular Rehearsal 5:30-6:00, Staging 6-6:20 (Putting kids in performance places)
Sunday Oct 16 5PM In the Fellowship Hall
Monday Oct 17 6PM - 7:30PMFellowship Hall, snack supper available
Tuesday Oct 18 6PM - 7:30PM Dress Rehearsal with t-shirts and shorts in the Fellowship Hall, snack supper
Wednesday Oct 19 5PM - 7:30 Practice, Snack, and Performance, Meet in Adult Choir Room
Why so many practices?
1) Most of them don't completely know lines, songs, and entrances.
2) We have not been able to do any staging because we can't have the stage until this Sunday. Knowing where to go and when to go there is HALF of acting. Your children have to learn HALF of their job IN THREE DAYS.
2) When you change ANYTHING, you forget what you knew previously. They may know their lines cold right now, but when they change location, they will forget them briefly. Because the Connections home is the stage, we have only three days on it.
We will not have practice on Sundays again until November and only if we need it. We will begin practicing for Share the Warmth (2 songs) on Wednesday, October 26 at 5:30 PM as usual. Don't worry about forgetting music, words, or CD loss. It will come back to us.
Share the Warmth is Sunday December 4 at 6PM. Kids need to wear Christmas shirts and jeans for that.
After Share the Warmth, we will have a week off with no practice on December 6. Then on Wednesday, December 14th, we will have a Preview Party at 5:30 for the Spring Musical so you can all get fired up and get your friends to come practice with us in January!
See you all tomorrow at 5:30!!!!

Thirteen Days Until You Blow Them Away!
Only thirteen days are left until we watch you offer up your beautiful sacrifice of praise! Truly, this is laying it all on the altar. We have had fun and you WILL have fun October 19, but the main thing is to pray, pray pray that we will be used by God to speak to others.
Also, do not miss what the words and music are saying to you personally. I had a rotten day today until I realized "It's All About Love!" Keep practicing and think about what you are saying. Most of you have almost got it down perfectly! By Sunday it will be nice.
Thanks so much to all the parents for ordering and paying for t-shirts so promptly. Wow! Ask and it shall be given! Ya'll are so supportive! This thing wouldn't be happening without you. We don't say it enough, but Karla and I never take parenting for granted. We have learned so much from all of you.
Check out the adorable baby sloth .gif and the Spring Musical Clues! Sunday is speaking parts and solos again @ 5:00. Check the link to the Choir Calendar at left for days we'll be up on the stage.
See most of you on Sunday.

T Minus Fifteen Days
We had a great practice yesterday! People were still glancing a little at books, but EVERYONE is trying to memorize not only their lines, but the lines before them as their cues.
Remember, this Sunday we will meet as usual in the Kids' Choir Room until just before 6:00. Then we all will go to the FH for a Birthday Fiesta for Sept. & Oct. birthdays. We will especially honor Marin Grant (Sept 5), Mi'Kayla Burton, (Oct. 12), and Gracie Farmer (Oct. 13).
At 6:30, it's back up to the Choir Room for another practice until 7:00, when Miss Erin picks us up and we head to the gym for some free play after all that hard choir work!
Kids, remember what Miss Karla said yesterday when we were singing "Find Us Faithful:" YOU are an example. Just coming to choir practice is an example of faithfulness which other people notice. Although the performance is our main goal, part of our goal is just to continue running the race God has set before us. We have such a great cloud of witnesses, not only younger kids but teens and adults as well. Let's blow them away so that they will know that we're not running on our own. God in Christ through the Holy Spirit is what allows us to do our best.
You also need to keep practicing, especially if you do not know your lines!!! As our verse from Hebrews says, spoken so well last night by Bailey Standifer, "Since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us throw off everything that hinders (boredom, tiredness) and the sin that so easily entangles (video games, TV, Internet), and let us run the race of endurance (keep practicing), fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith."
In other words, all we have to do is ASK him to help us practice and He will carve the time out for you. You just have to notice it , thank Him, and grab it.
Adults, if you want a t-shirt, see Miss Lin or Miss Karla. We've already ordered sizes because we had to do it, but we have extras. They are also 10.00 each. If you haven't paid for the t-shirts, please do so ASAP. The church had to pay the printer when it was ordered, and these days, even a few hundred dollars is a big carry-over for our church from one month to the next. We appreciate your prompt payment.
We will see all of you great peeps Wednesday at 5:30!!!
